Brian Linden

Brian Linden is the co-founder of the Linden Centre, without whom none of what you see would be possible. Brian’s gregariousness, warm-heart, and compassion for China’s people and traditions have led him to create the Linden Centre dream, so that foreigners and Chinese alike can share his passion for creativity and learning. He is always willing to engage in interesting and expansive conversations of all things China, and will lead most of our immersions on unforgettable discoveries. Brian first came to China in 1984, and has spent years involved in education, business, and journalistic ventures throughout Asia. Born and raised in the Chicago area, he was educated at the University of Illinois, Johns Hopkins and Stanford University. He has traveled to every province in China many times over, spending 200 plus nights on trains, and has worked and sojourned in over 75 countries.

Jeanee Linden

Jeanee Linden is also the co-founder of the Linden Centre, and along with her husband Brian and children, Shane and Bryce, has found a new home in rural Dali. Throughout your time at the Centre, you will come to find that Jeanee’s unending friendship and spirit truly forms the backbone of your entire experience with us, from the small details in your room, to her constant hands-on work tailoring your daily activities. Jeanee, like Brian, first came to China in the mid-80s to study the language and retrace her roots as a third-generation Chinese. Originally from San Francisco, CA, she was trained as a Nurse Practitioner at the University of California.

Adrian Golobic

Adrian has been contributing to the Linden Centre project since 2007 and soon thereafter become a close friend and business partner to the Linden family. After being invited to travel with the Lindens, he found himself enchanted by the culture and beauty of Dali that feels adventurous and zen-like in so many ways. Adrian is now an integral part of the Centre, being absorbed in business planning, quality assurance, hospitality, and most everything, even down to knowing the ins and outs of our historical complex. Adrian was born and raised in the Midwest, and has spent years traveling abroad, including months in the wilderness of Mexico, sightseeing throughout most of Europe, and studying at Cambridge in England. Also having work experience in the finance industry, Adrian completed his education at Cornell College in Iowa, with degrees in Economics and Business, and Philosophy.

Tang Lei

Lei Lei, as she is affectionately known to us, is truly the most important connection between the world of foreigners and everyday people in Yunnan. She has been involved over 5 years with the Lindens in securing the rights to the Centre’s property, as well as acting as our point person for government and business liaisons. As our manager, she splits her time between her childhood home of Kunming and Xizhou, and will certainly help our longer-term guests on their every need, with a kind smile and vibrant personality.
Lei Lei was born and raised in Kunming, Yunnan, and has spent years traveling abroad, as well as working the finance industry for a time. After becoming fluent in English while pursuing her Bachelor Degree in Business English in Jiangxi, she studied at Vienna University of Finance and Economics for Cross Cultural Management.
